Artist bios

Aysen Aktu is a visual artist supported by Heart n Soul and Intoart. She likes playing music, drawing, pottery and dancing and describes what she does as “beautiful colours”. Aysen’s work has been exhibited at Tate Britain, York Art Gallery, Wellcome Collection and Copeland Gallery. She has worked on a number of commissions including the EP artwork for Heart n Soul band Electric Fire, a beer label for Brick Brewery and a vinyl release for Soho Radio.

Richard Phoenix is an artist, musician and writer who has worked extensively within learning disability arts and connected communities for the past 18 years. He is currently an Associate Artist working with award-winning charity and organisation Heart n Soul. Recent exhibitions include Flatland Projects (2023), Exeter Phoenix Gallery (2023) and shortlisted for The John Moores Painting Prize (2023). Published works include DIY as Privilege: a Manifesto (2020) and Do Your Own Thing (2023) both with Rough Trade Books.
