ARE YOU AN ISLINGTON LOCAL? Do you want to be part of a community print space in Islington?  We’d love to meet you!

Cubitt Community Press is a space to share local stories, document alternative histories, and support projects in our borough and beyond rooted in social justice. We believe in owning the tools of creation and using them to make things happen in and for our communities.

We are building on Islington’s long history of radical publishing, and since February 2026, we have been working on our third edition of our community newsletter, a community map of resources, memories and mutual aid projects in Islington, crowd sourced directly from people in the neighborhood.

The making of this newsletter has included a collective design and editorial process, through which we have arrived at our final session!

In our final think-in, we will finalize the layout, print and fold our newsletter together.

No previous experience necessary! Join us for this final session to learn more about our project, get to know the press and have a chance to see the risograph printer in action.

Food will be provided

We’re moving towards opening a Community Distribution Centre: a space to amplify stories from our borough across London (and beyond). In the coming years, we’ll be working through print and radio to support local organising, creative resistance, and collective storytelling as tools for social justice and radical imagination.

WHO CAN ATTEND/ WHO IS AN ISLINGTON LOCAL?

We welcome everyone who is currently living, working and organising in Islington (and its neighbouring areas). We know that many folks who have grown up  in the area have had to move due to gentrification and changes to our neighbourhood, so if you have a close relationship with the borough, local knowledge, generational ties to this community, you’re very welcome to join us!  If you’re from surrounding areas/boroughs/neighbourhoods and feel connected to this project- you are also welcome!

WHAT IS RISOGRAPH?

A risograph machine creates vibrant, stencil-based prints that are perfect for mass-producing posters, flyers, and pamphlets. Blending elements of silkscreen and photocopying, Riso prints have a unique look, popular in schools and activist groups!

If you have any questions, suggestions on who to invite or would like to share your relationship to the borough, please get in touch by emailing: [email protected] & [email protected]
