Liberating the Curriculum (LTC) is a two-year Participatory Action Research (PAR) project taking place at Arts and Media School Islington (AMSI) in collaboration with Cubitt. Drawing on Paulo Freire’s educational philosophy in ethical and pedagogical thinking, LTC aims to co-create an inclusive and engaging KS3 art curriculum with artists, young people, and teachers. We are looking for a Learner-in-Residence with a strong background in research, collaboration, and art curriculum and teaching, who will embed themselves within the LTC project at AMSI, capturing the evolution of the programme, analysing data, facilitating reflective practices, and shaping our Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) framework. The Learner-in-residence should also have a critical perspective that challenges traditional extractivist practices in research.

Do you have strong research and documentation skills with a passion for:

  • Participatory Action Research approaches in educational settings
  • Co-creating inclusive art curricula that reflect diverse student experiences
  • Supporting ethnically diverse young people to shape cultural spaces and learning?

To apply please download the application pack, send your CV (maximum 2 pages) and a covering letter expressing how your experience and knowledge align with the Key Responsibilities and Person Specification to: [email protected] with the subject line: Liberating the Curriculum Learner in Residency.

We encourage people from all sections of our community to apply. However, our highest priority is to hear from applicants who come from structurally underserved communities across race, class, gender and accessibility.
