Cubitt is building on Islington’s history of radical publishing with plans to create a community press—a space to share stories, document alternative histories, and support social justice projects. We believe in owning the tools of creation and making things happen in and for our communities.

In this third session, we will build on the conversations we’ve been having—what do we want this press to be, who will use it, and how can its users and stewards help guide it as community members? In this session, we’ll get hands-on, using the risograph machine for the first time in a practical workshop, while also figuring out the ethos and politics that will shape our press. We’re looking for folks interested in collectively run publishing projects, so come join us to help shape Cubitt’s community press!Everyone is welcome, though we’re particularly excited to meet those who live, work, or have a connection to Islington.

A (free) vegan meal will be served after the session.

FAQ - WHO ARE ISLINGTON RESIDENTS / COMMUNITY MEMBERS?
We welcome anyone living, working, and organising in Islington (and nearby areas). We also know that many folks who grew up in the area may have moved due to gentrification, but if you have ties to the borough—whether local knowledge or generational connections—you’re more than welcome!

For example, you might organize in Islington but live elsewhere, or you grew up here but no longer reside in the area. This is a local project, and we’re keen to involve those with a relationship to the borough, but those from neighboring areas are also welcome!Got questions, suggestions, or want to share your connection to Islington?
