Programme Events Past Events Cubitt Community Press - Open House - November In the event that these sessions are sold out; please join our waiting list by emailing: [email protected] We’re opening our press! Come meet the new Cubitt risograph and learn how to make a simple, two-color, A3 poster using our new printer. These sessions will be completely FREE to join, and you will get to take away 5 copies of your work! This month we’ll be providing some prompts and resources to make posters and prints ahead of the December National March for Palestine. Come find out how to make solidarity posters to hang up in your neighborhood and learn how you can attach them to placards to take with you on the march. You can also bring your own materials to make your work. Everyone is welcome, but we’re especially interested in making this resource available to Islington residents and community groups who want to resource their work through printing and publishing. Children and adults are welcome to come (and it’s an activity everyone can get involved in!) but all young people under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. For family bookings, please ensure that every member planning to participate has a ticket! HOW TO BOOK: We will run 3 x 1.5-hour sessions throughout the day, please book for one session only. Session 1: 12:00 - 1:30 PM Session 2: 1:45 - 3:15 PM Session 3: 3:30 - 5:00 PM What is a Risograph Printer? Riso machines are built for fast and affordable printing. Using a stencil-based process and vibrant inks, they create prints that fall between silkscreen and photocopies! Historically, Riso machines have been widely used by schools, churches, and activist groups to mass-produce posters, flyers, pamphlets, and small books. They work well with both text, images and hand-made illustrations. What is Cubitt’s Community Press? Cubitt is building on Islington’s history of radical publishing with plans to create a community press—a space to share stories, document alternative histories, and support social justice projects. We believe in owning the tools of creation and making things happen in and for our communities. We’re still in a pilot process and trying things out to see what sticks. Join us - if you’re interested or want to know more about using the printer, email Anahí: [email protected] Booking for this event has now closed. Manage Cookie Preferences
