ARE YOU AN ISLINGTON LOCAL? Do you want to be part of a community print space in Islington?  We’d love to meet you!

Cubitt is building on Islington’s long history of radical publishing, and we’re excited to share that we now have our very own Risograph printer! With it, we’re re-opening the Cubitt Community Press: a space to share local stories, document alternative histories, and support projects in our borough and beyond rooted in social justice.

We believe in owning the tools of creation and using them to make things happen in and for our communities.

In this open meeting we will:

  • Welcome our new printer to Cubitt & retrace our short history as a group

  • Vote on the ink colours for our new printer

  • Explore the possibility of continuing our community newspaper

  • Hear from you about ideas and desires from a community print space

  • Eat together and catch up : FREE LUNCH PROVIDED (VEGAN OPTIONS AVAILABLE)

So far, the space has been a space to learn how to use the Risograph through hands-on creative sessions and has offered local projects resources and tools to publish for their communities. We have also published two editions of a local newspaper, distributed across the borough. We welcome everyone interested and local, no experience required!

We’re moving towards opening a Community Distribution Centre: a space to amplify stories from our borough across London (and beyond). In the coming years, we’ll be working through print and radio to support local organising, creative resistance, and collective storytelling as tools for social justice and radical imagination.

FAQ - WHO ARE ISLINGTON RESIDENTS / COMMUNITY?

We welcome everyone who is currently living, working and organising in Islington (and its neighbouring areas). We know that many folks who have grown up  in the area have had to move due to gentrification and changes to our neighbourhood, so if you have a close relationship with the borough, local knowledge, generational ties to this community, you’re very welcome to join us!  If you’re from surrounding areas/boroughs/neighbourhoods and feel connected to this project- you are also welcome!
