News Statement from the Trustees of Cubitt Artists on the Departure of Amal Khalaf, Director of Programmes As trustees of Cubitt Artists, we extend our deepest thanks and heartfelt appreciation to Amal Khalaf, who is stepping down from her role as Director of Programmes. Over her tenure, Amal has shaped Cubitt into a vital space at the intersection of curatorial practice, community organising, and social justice. Her leadership has been nothing short of transformative — forging new ways of working that have challenged institutional norms, centred care, and deepened our organisation’s commitment to artists, local communities, and collective imagination. From long-term collaborations with civic partners, to commissioning urgent new work by underrepresented artists whose practices push the boundaries of the social and the poetic, Amal’s curatorial vision has opened up Cubitt to broader publics and redefined what a gallery space can be. Under her direction, programming became not just a matter of exhibition-making, but a radical act of listening, building, and solidarity. Her work has left a lasting legacy — not only in what was programmed, but in how it was imagined: courageously, and with deep integrity. We are immensely grateful for all that Amal has contributed to Cubitt — her intelligence, care, and conviction — and we look forward to seeing the next chapter of her practice unfold. She will always be part of the Cubitt family. With respect and thanks, Raja Moussaoui and Mary Cork on behalf of the Trustees of Cubitt Artists Manage Cookie Preferences
